I Love My Pool

My pool is the greatest thing in the universe aside from jelly beans, cats, and pop tarts.

I think the reason is because the beach is a lot like my pool because the heater is broken, so I am used to and like cold water temperatures. Also jumping in into the pool is super fun.

Most of my friends own pools, but heated or not, my pool will always be my favorite pool.

Back to school

Last Wednesday, school started for me! I am in fourth grade.
This year, school starts at 8:00 sharp, instead of 8:15, and ends at
2:30 instead of 2:50 (for fourth graders).
My best friend is in my class, too. Click here to go to his blog.

Trash Cans?!

Have you ever seen a trash can on fire? Well, that's exactly what I saw on The Fourth of July! We were driving home from my cousin's house when my dad mentioned all the fog. Then we passed a smoking trash can. My mom pointed out that it was smoke, not fog. We turned around and my mom got out of the car and started to knock on the neighbors door, because the owners of the trash can were not home. While we were waiting, the trash can started to ignite. That's when my mom and dad drove my brother, sister and I home to go to bed. By that time, my mom had called 911 and reported the flaming can of boiling sludge to The Fire Department of Bath. My mom had not gotten the address of the house, so she drove back and got it. After the Fire Department put out the fire, the neighbors said that they had put out the fire once before. People think someone threw away a firework thinking it was put out completely, but it wasn't.

The fire didn't do much damage because the grass was damp. It only burned a few leaves right above it.

Here is a picture of the trash can (after the fire was out. It would not have been safe).

Have you ever had an unexpected fire happen?
What are your thoughts about fire? (Wild and contained).
Do you even like fire?

Indians vs.Yankees

While my mom and dad were in Chicago for their anniversary, my grandpa took my brother, sister, and I to an Indians baseball game. The Indians were playing the Yankees (Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees).

When we got there, we had lunch (My siblings and I like baseball food better than restaurant food. It tastes way better). My sister and brother got nachos, while I got a sub sandwich called "Cardiac Kid". It consists of nutella, peanut butter, bananas, and honey. It was great!

Somewhere around the second inning, we got cotton candy. For some reason, the cotton candy was half flavored strawberry and half lemon flavored. Then, around the sixth inning, we had Dippin' Dots. They were out of the "rainbow ice" flavor, so, I got chocolate.

The final score was 6-7 Yankees victorious.

The Indians lost.  :(

Mid-Century Modern

On the weekend, my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother, and I went to my mom's friend's new house! We had chicken cheese enchiladas that were really good.
Here is a picture of their front yard, which is actually on the side of the house:

As I remember, the broken heat lamp was hit in a storm, the huge blank wall served as a movie screen, which we watched Thor with. On the chairs, the back are skim boards.

After lunch, we went to the beach, where the water was actually warm! I made an unbeatable fort of sand, but the water destroyed it! My brother's fort was not squashed because he made farther from the ocean.

As we watched the movie, my mom, my mom's friend, and my mom's husband sat in those far chairs in the right corner, my dad, however, watched the movie.

Farmer's Market Jamboree!

April 10 was all about

Cherry Blossom on Emoji One 2.1
Candy and Health

My mom is sort of in charge of The Farmer's Market, so right after                    school, I had to go down to the middle yard to help my mom. The Farmer's Market Jamboree was start at 11:00 and it ended at 2:00.

Activities:

Make a Bean Plant
Have Fresh Pita Chips 'n' Humus
Drink Juice Karma Smoothies
Listen to Live Music
Dance to Live Music

When I got out of school, my mom handed me five dollars. I bought a bottle of kale-lemonade from Juice Karma for five dollars. So much for that. After that, I played around in the kindergarten yard with my friends. We played tag.

Grand Central Market and Bottega Louie

My family and I went to Bottega Louie and Grand Central Market. Here are some photos from both locations (these are from my mom's iphone.)

At Grand Central Market, we had an early lunch. It was a bean and cheese pupusa. They were so good. They pupusas were the best in the galaxy (NO hyperbole intended).

After we spoiled ourselves with the best food ever, we went to G&B Coffee where my brother, my sister and I got hot chocolate. It was dark chocolate creamy cup of goodness. My sister ended up not liking it, so I got it. My family split a dark chocolate chip cookie with salt. I dipped mine in my hot cocoa. It turned the cookie even better.

These macarons were on the end of the building. There were more colors that included: ROY-G-BIV, plus rainbow, pink, purple, black, white, and brown. My mom let me get something. I just got a small truffle. It was caramel covered in chocolate, with cinnamon sprinkled on top.

April is National Poetry Month!

April Is National Poetry Month!

I have written a little poetry (Haiku).

Here is the definition of poetry:
po·et·ry
ˈpōətrē/

  1. literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.
"he is chiefly famous for his love poetry"

    archaicpoesy
    "Walt Whitman's poetry"
    • a quality of beauty and intensity of emotion regarded as characteristic of poems.
"poetry and fire are nicely balanced in the music"
    • something regarded as comparable to poetry in its beauty.
"the music department is housed in a building that is pure poetry"

Here is the definition of haiku:

hai·ku
ˈhīˌko͞o,ˌhīˈko͞o/
noun
  1. a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.
    • an English imitation of this.

Here is the definition of  cinquain:

cin·quain
siNGˈkān/
noun
  1. (in verse) a five-line stanza.

And here is diamante:
(it actually is a kind of poetry, but I guess google doesn't have that in their dictionary. Here is their definition.)

di·a·man·té

ˌdēəmänˈtā/
adjective
  1. 1.
    decorated with artificial jewels.
    "a diamanté brooch"
noun
  1. 1.
    artificial jewels.

When writing poetry, you always have to think about word choice.
If you're just writing everything that pops into your mind, you're doing it wrong!
(My teacher, Mrs. Yollis, had my class and I make a list of words that are useful in poetry.)

Here is a flower for spring time!

Emperor Avocado-ius (Darth Sideous, Star Wars)

After a tiring practice of basketball, I had an avocado. I had the peel, and for some reason, I started folding it. Before I knew it, I had made something that looked like Darth Sideous (he was played by Ian McDiarmidClive Revill, and Ian Abercrombie). I decided to call him Emperor Avocado-ius!

After I took the photo, I put into Seesaw.

I added a light saber, eyes, and a mouth.

Try finding everyday things and turning them into extraordinary objects!

Emperor Avocado-ius

By the way, May 4/5 are STAR WARS days. May the fourth be with you (Force), and The Revenge Of The Fifth (Sith)!

Have you ever turned an everyday object or food into a sculpture?
What about just plain origami?
What have YOU folded?

Welcome to my blog!

Dear Bloggers,

Welcome to my blog! First of all, I'd like to say a big thank you to my teacher, Mrs. Yollis, for giving me this blog. She has two blogs, Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog, and the 365/366 Blog.

I like to play sports, mostly basketball and soccer. Also, I like to be lazy, especially on Sundays. I like to play video games, such as Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. I always enjoy the arts. I specialize in origami, kiragami, painting, sketching, and piano.

Sadly, I have no pets, but my mom wants a golden Labrador Retriever. I want a black cat with bright green eyes.

My blog is about anything and everything. The title is also, "Anything And Everything!"
I chose the background as books because you can find out almost anything from a book, and my blog is about everything.

I hope that you enjoy my blog.

Sincerely,
Xavier Parker

P.S. Here are some photos of what I like to do:

Java Script Face (BOB)
