Farmer's Market Jamboree!

April 10 was all about

Cherry Blossom on Emoji One 2.1
Candy and Health

My mom is sort of in charge of The Farmer's Market, so right after                    school, I had to go down to the middle yard to help my mom. The Farmer's Market Jamboree was start at 11:00 and it ended at 2:00.

Activities:

Make a Bean Plant
Have Fresh Pita Chips 'n' Humus
Drink Juice Karma Smoothies
Listen to Live Music
Dance to Live Music

When I got out of school, my mom handed me five dollars. I bought a bottle of kale-lemonade from Juice Karma for five dollars. So much for that. After that, I played around in the kindergarten yard with my friends. We played tag.

  1. Xavier,

This is Kassia writing on my mom's account. How is kale lemonade? What color is it?

    1. Dear Kassia,

Kale lemonade is very good. All you really taste is the lemonade. But, it's sort of a dark green-ish color. I think that you would enjoy kale lemonade.

      Sincerely,
      Xavier P.

  2. Xavier,

I just had my first kale lemonade this week and I loved it. I know it isn't candy but not a bad option and keeping momma happy is pretty important so seems like a win/win to me.

    1. Dear Theo Kosta,

First of all, is this actually Victor?
I think kale lemonade is also pretty good. Sometimes, I slurp it up and it tastes sweet 'n' sour. :-)

      Sincerely,
      Xavier P.

  3. Hello XavierParker,

Our local large town, Bega, holds a farmer's market every second Friday. Local farmers and producers bring their products to their stall for locals to buy directly instead of from supermarkets. It helps the farmers and gives us really fresh products.

We also have country markets in local towns throughout the months. It includes local producers, small stalls. art and craft items as well as many new and second hand products. The markets are...

1st Sunday of the month - Candelo (the biggest and my favourite)
2nd Sunday of the month - Pambula (also large and closer than Candelo)
3rd Sunday of the month - Merimbula and my local. It's growing in size
4th Sunday of the month - Wyndham - this one includes an old hall plus roadside stalls and is my most distant

Markets are great places for local products and also a place to meet friends and make new ones.

    1. Dear HRR,

      It was real!
If I made that up, it probably would've involved aliens, and mutant healthy food.
Good idea for a story, though!

      Sincerely,
      Xavier P.

  5. I was considering harvesting and selling ramps at our farmer's market this year. Ever hear about eating ramps? They grow wild in my yard.

    1. Dear Mr. Bogush,

I have never heard of ramps. After looking at the definition of ramps, I was confused.
      What do they taste like?

      Sincerely,

  6. Hi Xavier Parker,
I am visiting my son and daughter-in-law up in Fresno, which happens to be "farm country". You can imagine the range of products that are sold at the local farms.
My favorite farmer's market here is on Friday evening. I love visiting the multitude of
farm stands while bands play festive music for everyone to enjoy. They often have special fairs to visit. One of them is called "Big Hat Day" in Clovis. Do you you have any favorite fairs or festivals that you like to attend?
Wishing you much good luck with your blog,
    Mrs. Chalfin :)

  7. Dear Mrs. Chalfin,

Most of my favorite festivals are from St. Nicholas. I sometimes see you at church there, too. Have you ever been to the Easter Sunday festival? I think the food is the best part. Breaking eggs is also fun at Easter. At my house, my mom won with the eggs. I actually think I didn't break eggs this Easter.
Then, there's the Easter egg hunt. I like the egg hunt because the candy is mostly made of artificial coloring. The reason I say this is because when the Easter Bunny comes, all I really get is chocolate. And when all you get is chocolate, you really start craving artificial candy.

I hope I see you at the next festival.

    Sincerely,
    Xavier P.

  8. Dear Xavier,
Farmer's markets are very special indeed. I especially like walking/milling around looking at all of the fresh fruits, vegetables, breads and other prepared foods! My favorites are the stone fruits. Do you have a favorite fruit or vegetable?

    Your pal, Baba
